Liposuction Treatment Areas

Authored by:

Liposuction removes stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. You may have already known that, but did you know that it works not only on the abdomen and hips, but in areas across the face and body? Some of the most common treatment areas include:

  • Abdomen
  • Waist
  • Back
  • Breasts
  • Chest
  • Butt
  • Hips
  • Inner thighs
  • Knees
  • Ankles
  • Calves
  • Neck
  • Chin
  • Cheeks

Although all of these locations can be treated with liposuction, many people are interested in removing fat from their middle sections: the belly, butt, flanks, and back. For these concerns, Dr. Miller often recommends his Liposuction 360 technique that treats all of these areas for a comprehensive, all-around result. Liposuction 360 makes it possible for Dr. Miller to sculpt a true hourglass shape on the feminine physique, and a chiseled masculine shape for men.

How Does Liposuction Work?

Fat is removed with plastic tubes. On the end of the plastic tube is a narrow stainless steel tube called a cannula. The cannula is inserted through small circular incisions, and the fat is suctioned away.

Most people want to know what the incisions will look like once they heal. Because the cannula is quite narrow, only a small circular incision is required. These incisions typically heal quite well to the point that they may look like a large freckle in time. Generally, these incisions do not look like obvious signs of surgery.

The treatment area is first injected with tumescent fluid. This fluid contains lidocaine, which numbs the area, and epinephrine, which reduces bruising and bleeding. The tumescent fluid makes the fat swollen and firm, which makes its removal more efficient and less traumatic.
