Preparing for Breast Augmentation Surgery

Like other types of surgery, breast augmentation requires a few weeks of recovery. However, there are a few things you can do to prepare to help ensure that your recovery goes as smoothly as possible. By planning ahead, you will not only be able to heal quickly, but also reduce the risk of complications. Here are some ways to get yourself ready for your breast surgery.

Ask Someone to Be Your Caretaker

Although breast augmentation is often performed as an outpatient surgery, you will be too groggy from the anesthesia to drive home. Ask a friend, family member, or spouse to be your caretaker for at least 24 hours after the procedure.

Get Some Comfortable Clothing

Both at your procedure and at home, you will want to wear loose fitting clothing that is easy to take on and off. To reduce the pressure on your breasts, we recommend wearing shirts that can be taken off without lifting your arms above your head. This could be a zip-up hoodie, buttoned shirt, or blouse.

Prep Nutritious Meals and Snacks

As you recover from your surgery, your body will need nutrients to help support the healing process. In addition, you may not be able to stand up and move around for long periods of time. We suggest that you cook the meals you plan to eat ahead of time and put them in your freezer so you can heat them up easily in the microwave. Remember to choose foods that are high in vitamins and minerals and low in sodium.

Setup Everything in Your Recovery Room

For the first few days, you may be too sore to be out of bed for an extended period of time. To help make the first week or so of recovery easier, make sure you have everything you need near your bed in an easy-to-reach place. This includes clothing, snacks, medications, entertainment, etc.
