Benefits of a Brazilian Butt Lift

In the Brazilian butt lift procedure, Dr. Miller will perform liposuction to remove excess fat from areas with excess, such as the abdomen or thighs. The harvested fat will then be processed and purified before being injected into the buttocks.

Under the experienced care of Dr. Miller, a Brazilian butt lift can provide exceptional results and a variety of benefits, including:

  • Less fat in the area from which the fat was harvested
  • Uses your own natural fat cells
  • No artificial material
  • Attractive, natural-looking results
  • Creates a beautiful hourglass figure

Although it offers a number of benefits, Brazilian butt lifts are not ideal for every patient. Dr. Miller will assess your candidacy during your free initial consultation and explain all of your options.

Is Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery (BBL) Right for Me?

If you want to enhance the volume and overall shape of your derriere, a Brazilian butt lift is likely a great option. The best way to find out if BBL surgery is right for you is to meet personally with Dr. Miller in a free, confidential consultation. During your initial consult, Dr. Miller will discuss your goals and evaluate your candidacy for butt augmentation by considering factors such as:

  • The amount of fat present
  • Your skin’s elasticity
  • Your bone and muscle structure

Patient education is a primary focus at Orange County Cosmetic Surgery. When discussing your desired outcome, Dr. Miller will assess your medical history and physical condition and explain all of the options available to you, including all surgical and non-surgical solutions. If he determines that BBL surgery is not the ideal procedure for you, he may recommend the Sculptra butt lift as a viable alternative.

Am I a Candidate for the Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery?

Ideal candidates for the BBL surgery are patients who are in overall good health, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations about what the results from their BBL surgery will look like. Candidates should have enough fat on their bodies to use as a donor site for the BBL procedure. The number one demographic for BBL surgery is women who are between 20-40 years old, but candidates out of this age range may still benefit from a BBL surgery.

If you are pregnant, we recommend waiting until your pregnancy has been completed before undergoing the BBL surgery. While it is possible to have BBL surgery before you become pregnant, it is still important to share your desire to become pregnant with Dr. Miller before beginning your BBL surgical journey.

How Long Will My Results Last?

Results from the Brazilian butt lift surgery can last up to ten years with the proper care. However, it’s important to note that as the body ages over the years, the appearance of your BBL results may change along with it. While natural aging can cause some volume loss and sagging to occur, most patients who can maintain a stable weight and stay in overall good health can enjoy a lifted buttocks look for over a decade. After this time has passed, Dr. Miller is happy to welcome back any returning patients who may be interested in a follow-up BBL procedure to maintain their desired results.

How Can I Prepare for My Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery?

Preparing ahead for your Brazilian butt lift surgery will not only help your procedure to run more smoothly but also help you avoid complications during your recovery period. To achieve a BBL surgery with optimal results, patients commit to doing the following weeks, or sometimes months ahead of their appointment:

  • Establish an exercise routine to optimize a toned look. Squats, lunges, and other exercises that strengthen the glutes and legs can lead to better results.
  • Commit to a balanced diet that helps you maintain a stable weight, as a significant amount of weight loss or weight gain can alter the appearance of your results.
  • Consult with your doctor about stopping prescribed medications that may interfere with your surgery.
  • Quit smoking at least two weeks before your surgery.
  • Arrange transportation plans with a loved one to get you to and from your surgery.
  • Prepare to take time off work to properly recover.
  • Arrange for childcare if needed.
  • Wear comfortable clothing on the day of your surgery.
  • Make your home easy to navigate to make your recovery easier.

How Much Does a Brazilian Butt Lift Cost?

The cost of a Brazilian Butt Lift at Orange County Cosmetic Surgery varies depending on your body and the results you desire to achieve. Check out our latest blog on the cost of a BBL with Dr. Miller to see what factors go into the cost of a Brazilian Butt Lift. Financing is also available for BBL procedures.

Sculptra Butt Lift

If you would like to enhance the size and shape of your buttocks but are unable or unwilling to undergo cosmetic surgery, the Sculptra butt lift may be your ideal solution. Sculptra is an injectable dermal filler that stimulates the body’s production of collagen. While it has traditionally been used to restore lost facial volume, it has also been successfully utilized to add fullness to the buttocks.

The Sculptra butt lift is well suited for lean individuals who lack enough excess fat to undergo fat transfer as part of a Brazilian butt lift. It is also a great option for patients who prefer a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment solution.

Where Can Fat Come from for Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) Surgery?

Dr. Miller may draw from one or more areas of your body to obtain enough fat for your BBL. Some of the common areas include the thighs, hips, love handles, waist, lower back, and abdomen. These areas tend to have more fat cells, so are ideal for obtaining larger volumes of fat. It’s possible to take fat from the arms or upper back, but these areas hold much smaller quantities of viable tissue than the others we’ve mentioned. During your consultation, Dr. Miller can evaluate your buttocks, determine how much fat will be needed to achieve your desired outcome, and identify your donor areas accordingly.

When Can I Sit After My Brazilian Butt Lift?

During your initial recovery phase after your BBL procedure, you’ll need to avoid putting pressure on the newly inserted fat cells. This means no sitting and no sleeping on your back. The short periods of time during which you use the bathroom should not cause enough disturbance to the fat cells to compromise your results. You’ll be able to go to the bathroom normally. You’ll be able to sit somewhat normally after two weeks of staying off your backside. When you do resume sitting, you’ll use a special pillow or other modified seating to keep pressure to a minimum.

When Can I Return to Work after My Brazilian Butt Lift?

You might return to work as soon as one week after your Brazilian Butt Lift. However, two weeks may be ideal. When you do return to work, you may benefit from using a standing or kneeling desk if you tend to sit for long periods of time. Even with the use of a donut pillow, sitting for too long can become uncomfortable.

When Can I Work Out After My Brazilian Butt Lift?

You will most likely attend at least one follow-up visit before you’re ready to start working out again after your BBL procedure. It’s important to allow the area to heal without unnecessary disruption, which exercise might be. Usually, we anticipate a return to light physical activity between four and six weeks post-op. You’ll need to start very light and build very gradually from there, all the while paying close attention to how your body feels. If you feel pain, decrease your frequency and intensity of exercise.

Is there Downtime After a Sculptra Butt Lift?

The Sculptra® Butt Lift is a nice alternative to the Brazilian Butt Lift for those who prefer a nonsurgical approach. One of the benefits of this treatment is that there is no downtime. You can return to work and even resume your normal workouts about 24 hours after receiving your butt-enhancing injections. You may feel some soreness after a Sculptra® Butt Lift, but this shouldn’t stand in the way of your normal activities.

Sculptra Butt Lift or Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), Which is Better?

Dr. Miller is very familiar with both of these buttocks augmentation techniques. Understanding some of the differences, primarily that a Sculptra Butt Lift is non-surgical, many patients wonder which body contouring option would be ideal for them. To adequately discern which might be best for you, a Sculptra Butt Lift or Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery, it's necessary to explore the details of each treatment beyond being surgical or non-surgical.

The Sculptra Butt Lift involves injections of this known soft tissue filler into precise areas of the buttocks. Sculptra isn't just a dermal filler. Although classified as such, this injectable product is actually a collagen stimulator. Sculptra contains tiny particles of poly-l-lactic acid. Using the right dosage of this product based on the treatment area, Dr. Miller can either restore lost volume or build volume where it never existed. To achieve satisfying results for buttock augmentation, it may take up to 20 vials of Sculptra at one time. Depending on the desired outcome and initial starting point, it may take much less. On average, Sculptra Butt Lifts require about 10 vials of the filler. While there is no downtime needed to recover from a Sculptra Butt Lift, it will take approximately six weeks for the body to produce enough collagen to see a difference in contours. You may also need more than one treatment session to achieve your desired outcome.

The Brazilian Butt Lift involves injections of fat into precise regions of the buttocks to achieve a more shapely appearance. The fat is first obtained via liposuction. Depending on the amount of fat that's needed to achieve the desired outcome, liposuction may be performed on more than one area of the body. The fat is processed, placed in sterile vials, and injected much in the same way that Sculptra is. Due to the multi-step process, BBL surgery can take up to four hours as opposed to 30 to 60 minutes for a Sculptra Butt Lift. After BBL surgery, you'll need to be off work for a week or two and will also need to severely limit how much time you spend sitting. For the first two weeks after surgery, the majority of your time will be spent lying on your stomach. This is necessary to ensure that the maximum amount of fat integrates into the area. Too much pressure on the injected fat can cause cell death, which can diminish the intended result.

Does the fact that BBL surgery requires downtime mean that a Sculptra Butt Lift is a better option? Not necessarily! If you have a desire for a larger degree of volume increase, BBL surgery may be a better choice. BBL uses fat, whereas Sculptra increases volume with collagen, and collagen degrades naturally with age. This limits the lifespan of your results to a few years, whereas fat cells that are transferred to the buttocks remain in place indefinitely. The results of BBL surgery do tend to last longer than a Sculptra Butt Lift, but fat also can change over time as affected by the aging process.

When you consult with Dr. Miller about a butt lift, he will take the time to explain your options and how each process may work for you.
